“I hope there’s a mixture of emotions from the photos overall. I want to hear them go ‘damn that looks sick’ while also hearing them say ‘wow what an amazing smile’.”

That contrast became central to Marquelle’s session, moving between bold, graphic portraiture and moments that felt more relaxed and expressive. We experimented with perspective, movement and colour while giving him space to bring his own energy to the images.

On the experience: “The biggest surprise to me was how free it felt. The freedom to just be able to throw all of those ideas together and catch it perfectly was a real breath of fresh air.”
