The Abyss I Am Made Of (Selected Images)

The Abyss I Am Made Of is a four-part photographic narrative developed in collaboration with Chloe McDanel, exploring the contradictions of desire, intimacy, shame, and self-perception.

Through fragmented self-portraiture, theatrical gestures, obscured identities, and the manipulation of the human form, the series examines the discomfort of being perceived and the desperation to be understood. Moving between vulnerability, eroticism, self-reproach, and defiance, its four chapters trace an uneasy relationship with the self and others.

The work takes its title from Clarice Lispector’s words: “It is because I dove into the abyss that I am beginning to love the abyss I am made of.”
